We are Dorothy's daughters: Deborah, Elizabeth and Melissa, and it is with great love and admiration that we have created this site for our mother. Knowing her was a gift to many, but to us three girls, she was our treasure. We'd like to share a little bit of her with her fans and provide a place for them and her friends to share memories, while traveling back in time to when the world was a little brighter.
"A gracious hostess, a fine actress, a talented comedienne, as well as an outstanding vocalist."
These words were often used to describe our mom. Every bio and article started with "The pert and pretty vocalist of television's Your Hit Parade." She was all that, but she was our mom, first and foremost. "Mommy," we unashamedly called her into our adult years. Growing up, it was very difficult to share her with her adoring fans...she was ours. And yet, we were incredibly proud of her as a performer, but also as a human being. Her reputation as a kind, loving person was legendary. We loved that people loved her. We are more sentimental about her kindness as a human being, her generosity and warmth, than her recordings and accolades.
So here we are, celebrating our "Mommy," her music, her magical performances and, hopefully, all that her memory evokes in her fans, friends and family. We welcome your stories and recollections and hope to build a little place in which to honor our precious mother... for all she was and is to so many.
